Format Of This Review Site

When I started this blog, I had the idea of writing out full length reviews for each drama that I watched. However, it wasn’t long before that became a task that I just did not wish to tackle. I am semi-lazy when it comes to writing but mostly I’m just to busy to spend that much time writing. Plus, there are hundred’s of other blogs that give much better full length reviews. Also, I use to watch dramas based on other people’s reviews from MDL (see below) but I wasted a lot of time watching some shows that were deemed amazing that really weren’t good at all. So, if you are curious about an Asian drama or Asian BL drama and you want just the quick facts, this is the blog for you! Enjoy!

I suggest visiting https://mydramalist.com/ This site will give you tons of dramas to choose from, info on the cast, and there are lots of reviews. I originally used MDL to find the dramas that interested me. But, a lot of the reviews were sort of biased and I seem to have the “unpopular” opinion on many of the dramas. Example (Everyone loves SOTUS and thinks the main couple has amazing chemistry.) But, I do NOT like SOTUS. I hate the love/hate troupe to the point that one of the characters in the couple is very mean, always hateful, and is toxic to the other person. Ofc, everyone has a right to there own opinions though 🙂

Review: Love At First Hate

Notes:
Writer Of Love At First Hate: Which drama clichés/troupes do you want to put in this series
Director: YES

Seriously, if you can think of a cliché for an Asian drama, you will find it in this series. Literally, ALL OF THEM. It is a fun drama that I enjoyed watching but honestly at times I just fast forwarded through some of the scenes. But, by the last two episodes, I really just wanted the main couple to get together or get ran over by a bus! I am not joking! Some people will love all the twists, turns, and troupes but sometimes it is just to much.

Where I watched: Youtube
Storyline: Liked it.
Main Couple Chemistry: Amazing
Side Couple Chemistry: Ploy/Tawan Their chemisty was good, I liked them as semi-couple
Subplots: Good
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Not Shown but you will see Dr. Pup with his shirt off ALOT!
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Only if there is nothing else to watch.

Likes:
The main couples chemistry was adorable. Kluay’s father was so sweet. I also loved Dr. Golf and Soncha’s roles as the best friends. They were so supportive and funny. Tawan was a great character who I felt sorry for. He was so in love with Ploy and tried very hard to keep her from going overboard with revenge.

Dislikes:
Kluay’s mother was evil. How obsessed Ploy was with destroying Kluay that she was willing to destroy her friendship with the one guy who cared about her.

Review: Boy For Rent

Notes:
This is a fun and sexy drama about girls renting boys as their boyfriends and all the drama that comes with it. Smile is the awkward girl who is trying to gain experience with love and Liz is just trying to make her boyfriend jealous. There are lots of plot twists to keep the story interesting.

Where I Watched: Youtube
Storyline: Great
Main Couple Chemistry: I love Badz/Smiles I didn’t like Kyro/Liz
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: Good
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Mild
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
The storyline of this drama is really fun. Smile is awkward, silly and just adorable. I love how the relationship between Smile and Badz progresses.

Dislikes:
I don’t like Liz. She seems to always be in a bad mood and seldom smiles about literally anything. I didn’t like how Smile betrayed her best friend but I can understand how things like this can sometimes happen in life. I was proud of how the relationship was restored in the end.

BL Review: Roop Thong (Golden)

Notes:
This is a semi-BL series. The main storyline is about two brothers, Moo returns home after 20 years and Seua is trying to figure out if he (Seua) is gay or straight out that he is gay. The characters in this story are very manipulative and emotionally and at times physically toxic to each other. You will only be able to find the first episode of this series with english subtitles from the GMM Youtube channel. It is a great story so if you are really interested you can find the cut BL only scenes at https://gcinee.com/golden-rupthong/ If you live in the U.S. you will need a VPN to view the episodes on GCINEE. Even with the cut version, I could clearly understand the story.

Where I Watched: Ep 1 Youtube/ Ep 2-18 BL Cuts GCINEE website
Storyline: Very good
Main Couple Chemistry: Amazing
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: Very good
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Suggested but not shown
Ending: Tragic
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
I loved the chemistry between Seua and Rob. I really wish they would play in another BL together. I loved the way Moo stood beside his family NO MATTER how much pain it caused him. I hated Seua’s girlfriend Khao during most of the series but near the end she really showed Seua the most love and support possible.

Dislikes:
The mother was EVIL. I hated the way Seua and Rob manipulated each other. I hated how Khao was so obsessed with Seua that she didn’t want to see him happy without her. I hated the way the mother tried to control EVERYONE. I also disliked the physical abuse between Khao and Rob. I think Khao provoked Rob a lot but near the end of the series Rob was making crazy, obsessed decisions that could have been deadly for Khao.

BL Review: Quaranthings

Notes:
I wasn’t really sure how this series was going to keep my attention but I loved it so much I am hoping for a season 2 where the lockdown is over and we can see Judas and Rocky on a real date! I liked the way the story unfolded and the intimate talks the characters had about their families. The sex scene was very well done.

Where I Watched: Youtube
Storyline: I loved it
Main Couple Chemistry: Amazing
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: N/A
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Seductive 18+
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
How devoted Rocky was to his family and to Judas

Dislikes:
At times I felt like Judas was pushing himself onto Rocky and it was very annoying.

Review: The Legend of White Snake

Notes:
This was my very first Asian drama and I was in love with the cinematography and music. The costumes were also amazing. However, the storyline itself was very slow pace and the second half of the drama was a let down as it kept moving in different directions.Transformed into a beautiful woman, an ancient snake spirit (demon) falls in love with a young man (human) and he is unaware of her true form.

Where I Watched: Netflix
Storyline: Liked it but lost interest in the main couple.
Main Couple Chemistry: Felt more like they were best friends than a couple
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: More interesting than the main storyline
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: None
Ending: Bitter sweet (see below)
Recommend It: Yes if you are into very long historical dramas

Likes:
Increadible scenery, beautiful costumes, beautiful music, CGI was amazing.

Dislikes:
The way the main male character was always on the brink of death. The slow pace and ending.

What Pissed Me Off:
The Ending (Wasn’t tragic but to rushed and confusing)

BL Review: Lovesick

Notes:
When I first read all the reviews about this series, I was excited to watch it. The storyline seemed interesting enough. A fake relationship started between Phun and Noh and becomes a wonderful, painful, and sweet romance. Overall, I enjoyed watching this series but honestly by episode 9, I didn’t care if Phun and Noh stayed together anymore or not. Both boys hid their true feelings for one another and once they decided to act on those feelings, they were unfaithful to the women who loved them. Not only that, but they became unfaithful to each other. Then there were all the side couples who never really got a chance to develop their stories and some of the sub plots were completely unnecessary to the series at all. I honestly started to fast forward through some of the side scenes just to see what was going to happen with Phun and Noh.

Where I Watched: Youtube but it is on Netflix now
Storyline: Loved it at times but other times this series was exhausting. Loved the second season a lot more.
Main Couple Chemistry: Felt more like they were best friends than a couple
Side Couple Chemistry: Same as the main couple
Subplots: Rushed and most were very under developed
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Not shown but suggested
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
The fluffy scenes where Phun and Noh’s feelings grew for one another. Loved Pang and Yuri. I felt like both these characters gave a lot of love and support to the leads.

Dislikes:
The underdeveloped sub plots. The toxic behavior of Jeed.

BL Review: Seven Days (Japan)

Notes:
I want to start off by saying that the actors in this drama are so beautiful that at times I was confused about their gender (which is not a bad thing). I just found them very memorizing. This is not a series but instead it is two movies that follow a week in the lives of the main actors. The first movie starts on Monday and goes to Thursday. The second movie goes from Friday to Sunday. I had a hard time finding these movies with good english subtitles so you may have to do a little work if this story interests you.

Where I Watched: Youtube (But has since been removed)
Storyline: Original. I loved it although this communication between the leads will have you yelling at them at times.
Main Couple Chemistry: Awesome
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: N/A
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: None
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
Storyline, characters chemistry, how well the couple look together, the archery scenes

Dislikes:
How dim witted Senpai is and all the miscommunication.

BL Review: Until We Meet Again

Notes:
I have seen a lot of reviews complaining about the amount of crying in this series. But, you have to remember that this story is based on two teens taking their own lives so of course there is going to be a lot of emotions from everyone that knew the two boys. You can’t expect a lot of fluff when dealing with this topic.

Where I Watched: Youtube
Storyline: Loved it
Main Couple Chemistry: Felt more like they were best friends than a couple
Side Couple Chemistry: Win-Team had amazing chemistry
Subplots: Good
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Mild
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
The cast and storyline were great.

Dislikes:
The way Team spoke about his friends weight. The non-stop cooking dialog. The way Pharm rejected Dean in the kitchen. The ending was to fast paced.

BL Review: Oh Mando!

Notes:
Trigger Warning – I want to let readers know that this series deal with both topics of self-harm and suicide. So if either of those are a trigger for you, you may want to skip this series.

This story is a love triangle. It starts with Mando meeting the buff, sexy, Barry and Mando starts to have feelings towards him. But, once Mando finds out that Barry is in a relationship (with another guy), he decides to let those feelings go. Mando then decides to pursue the pretty Krisha who has had a crush on Mando for a while. Only after Mando and Krisha become a couple does Mando find out that Barry is Krisha’s brother. And things become a lot more complicated.

Where I Watched: Youtube
Storyline: Liked it but story was rushed and some scenes didn’t transition well.
Main Couple Chemistry: Great
Side Couple Chemistry: N/A
Subplots: Rushed
Kisses: Mild
Love Scenes: Mild
Ending: Happy
Recommend It: Yes

Likes:
The series brings awareness to the touching topic self-harm and suicide. Great support from the friendships.

Dislikes:
The series promotes cheating. Wish it was longer so that we could see Mando and Barry’s relationship grow.
